Pance, District Reserve of Integrated Management (DRMI)
The Pance River is a place embedded in the memory of the people of Cali. For some, Pance is a place to go on weekends to stroll with their family; for others, it is their economic livelihood, their home, and that of their children and grandchildren. For others, Pance is a bastion for the city’s biodiversity, and that is why the declaration of the middle basin of the Pance River as a District Reserve of the Metropolitan Area (DRMI) has been so important. This declaration was made within the framework of ‘Association Agreement No. 060 of 2017’ between the Autonomous Regional Corporation of Valle del Cauca – CVC and the Biodiverse Environmental Management Corporation, aiming to ‘jointly harness technical, human, and economic resources to participatively develop the proposal for the declaration of a protected area in the municipality of Cali (Pance Ecopark), building on the process initiated by CVC in 2015.’
The three main ecosystems identified and expressed in the following three micro-documentaries, along with the people who inhabit and enjoy the environmental services they provide, are the conservation focus.
